Australia down 2-0 after Tomljanovic loses to Boulter

Team Australia are down 2-0 against Great Britain after Ajla Tomljanovic lost in straight sets to Katie Boulter.

It was a comprehensive and convincing victory on Boulter’s behalf, winning 6-2, 6-4 to send Great Britain to the top of group C.

Tomljanovic survives service game

Tomljanovic survives her service game, but now she has to do something she hasn’t done all match – break Boulter’s serve.

It’s a big ask for the Aussie at the death, but if she wants any chance of taking this match to a third set, she needs to find something in her.

‘Slow to react’: Tomljanovic

Listening to Tomljanoivc on her player mic, she’s telling her coach she feels “slow to react” on Boulter’s first serve.

She’s not sure whether she should just pick a side and go for it, or wait to see where the ball is going.

Frustrating start to second set for Tomljanovic

Boulter is well and truly in control of this match.

Even when Tomljanovic approaches the net or sends a drop shot her way, Boulter fights back with a shot of her own.

It looks pretty frustrating out there for the Aussie because some of the games she’s losing she deserves to win.

Boulter wins first set

Katie Boulter has taken out the first set 6-2 in 35 minutes.

Boulter’s pace, and her speed between points, looks like it’s throwing Tomljanovic off her game, and she’s struggling keep up.

A new set and fresh start coming up, but at this point Boulter looks too dominant.

Tomljanovic on the board

Finally, Tomljanovic is on the board in this opening set.

Boulter leads 4-1, but there’s still time for Tomljanovic to fight back. It was a gusty hold in that last game, and a small victory she needed to regain some confidence.
