Matildas veteran goal keeper Lydia Williams has replaced Mackenzie Arnold for the second half for her 103rd game for the national team.

Matildas superstar Sam Kerr may have fallen just short of being named the best women’s player in the world, but she has been crowned the best women’s footballer in Asia for the second time.

A day after finishing as runner-up in voting for the Ballon d’Or Feminin, Kerr was named the Asian Football Confederation’s Player of the Year. She had previously been named the confederation’s best female player in 2017.

She becomes the third woman to claim the award more than once, joining Japanese duo Aya Miyama and Homare Sawa as a multiple title-holder.

“I just want to say what an amazing honour it is to win this award, especially up against some amazing finalists,” said Kerr, who was given the award ahead of China’s Zhang Linyang and Saki Kumagai from Japan, the 2019 winner.

The Matildas have dominated every facet of this game but have yet to score.

Kerr just had the best chance of the half with a high ball falling to her close to goal but her leaping header went over the bar.

The goals will have to wait until the second half.
