FT: Gold Coast 11.11 (77) d St Kilda 8.3 (51)
Gold Coast have responded to a difficult week which saw coach Stuart Dew sacked by scoring a vital home win over St Kilda.
The win keeps the Suns in the hunt for an unlikely finals place and drags the Saints back into the scrummaging for positions.

Sam Flanders had one of the best games of his career for the Suns with 33 possessions in his club’s 26-point win under interim coach Steven King.
“It’s been a good couple of weeks [for me] and I’ve had a lot of confidence from our players but it has been an unfortunate week but I’m really proud of the way we got around each other and then came out and performed,” Flanders told Fox Footy.
“We try to keep it simple and play to our trademark and come out and perform.
“The group is confident. We had a message put up earlier this week that anything is possible. We just have to stick together, stay confident and try to win each week at a time.”
‘Port better bring their A game’: Maynard puts Power on notice
By Roy Ward
Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard has sent Port Adelaide a message ahead of his club’s top-of-the-ladder clash with the Power in Adelaide next round.
Speaking after Collingwood’s win over Fremantle, Maynard made it clear his club has their eyes on making a statement in South Australia and they wanted the Power to know it.

“We love every challenge that comes our way and we are sitting on top for a reason,” Maynard told Fox Footy.
“Port better bring their “A” game because we are coming over there and we are going to give it our best.”
The Power are playing Carlton this afternoon.

Magpies defender Brayden Maynard admitted his side’s 10-goal second term was up there with the best they had played under coach Craig McRae.
“It’s definitely up there, to know that our team has gears that we can get into and over-run teams – it’s good to have,” Maynard told Fox Footy.
“I have serious confidence that the boys can run out the full four quarters.
“Our whole team takes pride in our pressure and we are best in the comp for a reason.”
McPherson kicks the sealer for Suns
Darcy McPherson has kicked a goal on the run which has pushed the lead to 31 points and looks to have killed off any hopes of a last-minute comeback from the Saints.
This is a huge win for the Gold Coast while the loss will bring the Saints further back to the field when it comes to the last few finals spots.
Suns 76, Saints 45 with seven mins to go.
Saints keep kicking
It looks like St Kilda has too much to do to have any chance to come back and beat Gold Coast but they are trying their best.
Zak Jones just kicked a goal to cut the Suns’ lead to 23 points with 15 minutes to go.
But the Suns responded with Jack Lukosius finding room out the back and kicking his fourth goal.
Suns 68, Saints 39 with 14 mins to go.
No late changes for Blues v Power, subs named
Neither side has made a late change while Paddy Dow (Carlton) and Ryan Burton (Port) are the two subs.
First bounce is set for 4.35pm AEST.
Magpies still in charge
Fremantle would have pictured being much closer to Collingwood than this game has shown and the Magpies really look like they are totally in control of the tempo and movements of this match.
Darcy Moore’s marking, the skills of the Daicos brothers and the effort of the overall side all stand tall in this one despite some slippery conditions.

Scott Pendlebury was subbed out earlier in the second half so they could manage his minutes for today, he looks pretty content on the bench sipping water and wearing a warm jacket and cap.
Magpies 100, Freo 53 with 13 mins to go.
Good afternoon
G’day everyone. It’s Roy Ward here and I’ll be taking over the live blog for the rest of the day after Marnie Vinall made a typically superb start to things earlier on.
We have three big game to come today and tonight while it appears Collingwood is cruising to victory over Fremantle and Gold Coast Suns are well on top of St Kilda.
Both those games are well into the second half. Carlton v Port Adelaide is due to start at 4.35pm AEST.
Saints make tactical sub
St Kilda have activated their sub. Mattaes Phillipou is coming off, replaced by Hunter Clark (tactical).
The Saints have scored just one goal since half-time to trail the Suns by 27-points with just over 10 minutes left in the third quarter.
Some fans seem confused by the decision as Phillipou was playing a fairly reasonable game for his side, which was struggling to hit the scoreboard.
No late changes for Blues, Power
There are no late changes for either Carlton or Port Adelaide.
Substitutes:
Paddy Pow for CarltonRyan Burton for Port Adelaide
First bounce 4:35pm for their clash at Marvel Stadium.
